Welcoming the New Year!

Well 2008 is over and done. It has been a year of success and failure, but also a year of perseverance and patience.

In 2008 I not only started but also finished a Medical Insurance Billing and Office Administration program. I struggle sometimes with sticking things out to the end so this was a great accomplishment for me.

In 2008 my mom came to visit and we welcomed our Butterball into our lives. We love her so much!

In 2008 I started this blog! I have met so many wonderful people through this blog and worked out many issues on the keypad of my computer.

In 2008 I started working on a healthier life. This one thing has not only been a success and a failure but is also where the perseverance and patience comes in. I have not met my goals for the year in this area, but I have continued to try. I did not give up! I just reevaluated and tried again and again and again.

In 2008 I firmed up my goals for 2009. I have tried a lot of different things and I know what I want to work on this year.

My goals for 2009!

1. Use the gym membership that I got for Christmas.
--I want to go at least 4 days a week, if not more. I am enjoying the feeling of a worked out body and I like having my plan of attack drawn out for me by a trainer.
2. Track my eating in a journal.
--I am convinced that this is the way to go for me since every time I did it this year it resulted in weight loss. I just have to keep it up.
3. Take a fitness class and make some friends.
--My gym is going to have a mixed martial arts class starting soon. I don't know if I am going to take that class or not but it would be fun to try. I also might want to look into a yoga or pilates class, or maybe even boot camp. I'll have to look around and let you know. I have realized that I need socialization in my life. I need friends! So much for my dream of becoming a hermit.
4. Learn to sew on my new sewing machine that I got for Christmas.
--I have been wanting to do this so bad. I was bitten by the crafting bug last year and can't wait to start working on this beautiful machine. Now I just have to find a book to teach me how!
5. Get my organized vibe back.
--I started getting organized last fall and loved how streamlined it made my life. Then the holiday chaos hit and my organization went the way of the hot pink pleather mini skirts of my youth. I want my organization back. And the mini skirts too. I could use them in a patchwork quilt!
6. Find a billing job.
--It's been slim pickin's in this area so far but I am redoubling my efforts and hope to have a job by the end of January. I am looking forward to working in an office and using the skills that I learned in school. I am also looking forward to having weekends and evenings off. That would be nice.
7. Have a crafty Christmas.
--I tried to have a crafty Christmas this time around but fell short by several people do to lack of planning. So this year I am starting planning this month. I want to be prepared by the time the holidays come around again. I am going to make a list of everyone and what I want to make them. Then I will divide it into 12 months and plug away at them over the year. This way I can really make something nice for everyone and I won't feel rushed to get something in December.
8. Spend more time with my old friends.
--I just got back from a week of spending time with my friends and family down state. I realized how much I missed them and how important they will always be in my life. My friends are as good as family to me. There was a time in my life when they where all that I had. I realized that the deep sea of depression that I have been wallowing in this year is partly because I was missing them so much. Spending just a few hours with each of them has renewed my spirit. I will definitly have to check in with them more often this year.
9. Get a ring from Whit and finally set a date.
--I want to be a wife. More specifically I want to be Whit's wife! I don't have a lot of control over this one but I really hope that this is the year that I become a fiancee at least.
10. Reevaluate every month and revamp my goals regularly.
--I discovered that I don't always pick the best goals and sometimes I simply cannot accomplish them or don't want to. So I want to have a built in message of flexibility and change this year. I will accomplish more goals if I have a clearer and more realistic aproach to them.

Well folks, there you have it. My goals for the year, all listed and outlined for your viewing pleasure.

As for the challenge with Chia and Laura, I totally forgot to weigh myself at the gym yesterday but that's probably a good thing since I am sure that I am way behind. Traveling and eating healthy don't always mix well. I have a couple of days left to fix it, however I totally expect to be the one posting my most embarassing moment for all to see next week. Oh well. At least I will feel purged of that particular demon.

Happy New Year! and...

Happy Training,
Love Jenn

I love your plan for a Crafty Christmas - I, too, always wait too long to get started.

A new sewing machine for Christmas? I am officially jealous. I have wanted to learn to sew forever - especially for crafting - but haven't gotten around to buying a machine. Have fun with that and good luck with ALL of your goals.

Happy New Year!

I like the new layout!

I didn't weigh in today OR work out today, even though I indulged last night and today. I think I may have undone all my hard work...

Well, my one goal for 2009 will be to read your blog more often. BUT ...

In exchange, I want you to change your Goal 5 to ...

BRING BACK THE HOT PINK PLEATHER MINI SKIRT!!1!

And not in an ironic way or a kitschy way and definitely NOT on dudes. (Because some dudes, Man, will wear anything!)

It (the pink mini) is due for a renaissance. You are just the person to accomplish this task. That is NOT an order, because I know how you feel about following "authorities" and taking orders, Ms. Ron Paul for Congress!

It's just a suggestion.

Goal 11. Listen to what Glaven suggests.

Happy new year! Best of luck in 2009, Sister!

P.S. Pink Pleather Mini + Fluttery Come-Hither Eyes = Automatic Proposal From Boyfriend. That's just basic math. (The actual ring will cost extra.)
